State and Territory 911 Authority Structures
Each state and territory manages 911 in a different way. Some have a designated state-level 911 authority that oversees all responsibility for 911, while others share responsibility with local agencies, or have no 911 authority at all. Because the structures vary, there is no one-size-fits-all solution for efforts like NG911 implementation. The National Association of State 911 Administrators (NASNA) tracks the different authority structures and periodically updates the State and Territory 911 Authority Structure map, shown below.
